Installation Acceptance Speech:

Thank you Alice and Jamie for the beautiful Installation Ceremony. Also a special thank you to Jean Kump and Alice Robinson who took my theme and working their own special magic turned the theme into an incredibly beautiful ceremony. Thank you ladies.

I am deeply humbled and truly honored at the opportunity to lead the Colorado State Council in the coming year. My sisters, thank you for your confidence in me.

As I did not arrive at this position by myself, I have several to thank. I would like to thank the Lamplighters of Colorado for their continued leadership, inspiration, love and support over the last 41 years of my involvement in ESA.

Thank you to my family, my brother, Dorian Westlake, my other mother, Kay Westlake, and, of course, my dear sister, Barbara Hill, for their continued love and encouragement throughout the years.

Thank you to my Chapter--Zeta Omicron of Cedaredge, for their continued love and support as I continued my journey to become an officer on the CSC Board.

My Theme is "Mountains That Inspire Deeds of Love". This came about due to a documentary by Ken Burns regarding the "National Parks of the USA". One evening the program was dedicated to Yosemite and John Muir. The more I listened to the words of John Muir and his

spiritual attachment to Yosemite--the more I felt this incredible connection between the mountains, his eloquent words and myself, for he was taking the words from my very soul that I had not been able to speak or pen regarding my feelings toward the mountains.

John Muir was so INSPIRED with Yosemite that he COMMITTED his life to preserving Yosemite. His "Deed of Love".  For years, he COMMUNICATED with the United States Government that the grandeur of Yosemite should be preserved for all time, not for grazing,

timbering or water storage, but a National Park--a sacred, spiritual place where man could rest and renew his spirit.

You ask, What does John Muir and Yosemite have to do with ESA? The principals are the same--INSPIRATION, COMMITMENT, COMMUNICATION AND NURTURING. My sisters, I ask you, are you INSPIRED? Are you COMMITTED? Will you COMMUNICATE to keep ESA alive and healthy in Colorado? Will you take time out to NURTURE yourself and your relationships with your sisters?  Will you go to that movie, dinner, museum or play that you've been talking about attending for the last five years? Will you stop by and have a cup of coffee and see how your sister is doing?

My sisters, we have a mountainous challenge before us and that is keeping our present membership and pledging new members. Last night, as I listened to my fellow candidates give their talks on an event or a person who INSPIRED them in ESA, the beautiful thread that kept running through their talks was that of the love and support that this sisterhood provides to its sisters.

Therefore, my goals for Colorado are 15 new members. More knowledge, new members and a renewed understanding of ESA Foundation, and that you continue your Philanthropic projects, your Educationals and that you NURTURE yourself and your sisters, and that you are

continually INSPIRED AND COMMITTED as you look at those purple mountain majesties.

This is a great time to be in ESA. A new, modern and updated WEBSITE, A DREAM HOME, NEW LOGO, a new chapter in Vail with an exciting new project--Roundup River Ranch, chapters branching out and men joining as members, plus all of the great women that you have

in your chapter, and all of the wonderful projects that you do each year. Who wouldn't want to be a part of ESA? So, let's share the INSPIRATION with each other and new members?

Again, I thank you for this honor, and I look forward to this coming year, and working with this great Board of Officers. To close, I will quote William Blake, "In the end, there is nothing but Inspiration".

Love to all,

Cathy Westlake
